Okay. Now, I’ve said before that he needs to be mindful of his words, but I think I get what he’s saying. He’s right in a way - other than Kevin Reynolds (and he still needs work but he’s getting there), Canada just doesn’t have any other skaters that could have replaced him. Did anyone ever consider that maybe, just maybe, he really wants to focus on getting that medal and needs a bit of time to himself? After a hell of a season (in which he was dogged) and a bunch of changes (because believe it or not, I think he’s really insecure and unsure of himself this year), I’d want some time to myself too. So yeah, I could hear that he’s a tiny bit frustrated right now.
I’ve read the whole article now, and I don’t see a cocky bastard who needs to STFU, I see a young man who for all his achievements is very frustrated with the system and frustrated with himself. But of course, since he’s Patrick Chan, the founding father of Chanflation and everyone’s fav punching bag, anything he says that’s even a tiny bit negative will be blown sky high. I’m frustrated with him - he’s like every other skater, going out there and doing his best, but he’ll never be truly accepted because he’s Patrick Chan. But if this were any other skater, it’d be a totally different reaction.
And before anyone assumes I’m a groupie, trust me, if he really effed up, I’d call him on it.
